What is the American Wine Society?
The American Wine Society (AWS) is a national, nonprofit consumer organization devoted
to educating people on all aspects of wine. Its members are wine novices, experts,
grape growers, amateur and professional winemakers, chefs, wine appreciators, wine
educators, restaurateurs and anyone else who wants to learn more about the appreciation
of wine and gastronomy.
The AWS is for you if you're interested in: Wine Education, Fellowship, Gastronomy,
Wine Judging, Travel to Wine-Growing Regions, Wine Tasting in Moderation, Grape Growing,
Winemaking.

AWS Membership and Benefits
- Participation in Local Chapter Activities:
Tastings, Dinners, Social Events, Trips (as determined by chapter members)
- Participation in Regional and National Events:
The National AWS Conference - Professional & Amateur Wine Competition, Educational
Seminars, "Wines of the World" Event, Banquets, etc. Three days of wine and food
indulgence. The 2005 National Conference is scheduled for Las Vegas.
- American Wine Society Journal:
Mailed quarterly, the Journal is filled with informative information about wineries,
specific wine varietals, notable wine personalities, characteristics of wine growing
regions of the world, wine and food combinations, and gourmet recipes. An
invaluable source of information available only to AWS members.
- American Wine Society Newsletter:
Mailed quarterly, it includes news from the National Office and individual chapter
events. Chapters frequently report results of local tasting activities and
competitions.
